Main activities of Pryingulsky regional landscape park incude the following:

Nature preservation

One of the main goals of Pryingulsky park is presevation of valuable natural, historical and cultural complexes.

The territory of the «Pryingulsky» RLP is the habitat of many rare and vanishing species of plants and animals included into the lists of the special guard. This is the place of growth of Astragalus pallescens, Gymnospermium odessanum, Linaria biebersteinii Besser, Sedum borissovae Balk and Eremogone rigida that are protected according to the World Red List (IUCN Red List of Threatened Species). More than 20 plant species growing here are included to the Ukrainian Red List, these are Bulbocodium versicolor, Genista scythica Pacz, Caragana scythica Kom., Tulipa hypanica Klokov et Zoz, Tulipa quercetorum Klok. et Zoz, Iris pontica Zapat., Fritillaria ruthenica Wikstr., seven species of mat-grass etc. As to the rare species of Mykolaiv oblast,
here we can find Iris halophyla, Clematis integrifolia L., Limonium platyphyllum Kuntze, Achillea leptophylla etc.

There are seven plant associations (phytocenosis) included into the Green List of Ukraine on the territory of the park.

There are about 2000 species of insects, 18 species of fish, 3 species of amphibia, 5 species of reptiles, more than 100 species of birds and 19 species of mammals on the territory of this nature-preserving object. Among rare and vanishing species of animals being under the state protection following ones should be noted: the Southern Festoon (Zerynthia polyxena), The Old World Swallowtail (Papilio machaon),
Scolia maculata, Carpenter bee (Xylocopa valga), Caspian whipsnake (Dolichophis caspius), Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus), short-tailed weasel (Mustela erminea L.), European otter (Lutra lutra) etc.

Preserving of the territory of Pryingulsky RLP is carried through the system of guard, researching and ecological educational activity.

State guarding service of the park and other special state institutions provide control of nature protection rules observance on the territory of the park.

Researches

The researches on the territory of the park are been conducted by several scientific officers who, unfortunately, cannot cover all the possible scientific fields, that’s why the administration of the park welcome academic institutions, institutions of higher education and scientists to collaboration.

Considerable contribution to the researches of the flora of Pryingulsky Park is being made by the specialist on the questions of nature protection, expert botanist Mr O.Derkatch.

The representatives of V.O.Sukhomlynsky Mykolaiv State University make archaeological researches; the experts of the service on the problems of ecological geology and exploitation of the ore deposits, as well as the experts on marine geology and sedimentary ore formation of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine make geological ecological inspections etc.

The results of the scientific researches are yearly included in the Chronicles of Nature of the Regional Landscape Park «Pryingulsky».

Tourism and recreation

One of the functional tasks of Pryingulsky RLP is creation of favourable conditions for effective tourism and recreation in the natural environment in abidance with conditions of protection of natural complexes and objects.

The adminisration of the park handles such questions as:

• balanced recreational and touristic activities planning;
• organization of excursions and visits;
• projecting of green itineraries and tourist routes;
• provision of the necessary facilities for recreational posts and observation points;
• determination of allowable recreational loads;
• publishing of ecological educational materials;
• promotion of the responsible attitude to nature;
• development of recommendations on optimization of recreational and touristic activities etc.

Organization of visits on the territory of Pryingulsky RLP can be carried out by the travel agencies, tour operators and other institutions, which must conclude a contract of cooperation with the administration of the park.

Environmental education

Ecological educational work is an important factor in forming of ecological culture of population and in propaganda of careful attitude toward nature, that is why the directorship of the park pays significant attention to this work.

The following presentations on this problem were prepared for school children: «Nature preserving fund of Mykolaiv oblast», «We are studying the Green Book of Ukraine», «Some facts about the plants growing on the territory of the RLP «Pryingulsky»», «Interesting facts about animal world», «Regional Landscape Park «Pryingulsky» welcomes», «Interesting facts about plants» etc.

Collected educational materials, concerning environmental protection, nature conservation, determiners of plants and animals, were distributed in electronic writing. Officers of the park developed several subject slide-shows.

Ecological educational events in school and excursions for schoolchildren are periodically organized. The directorate of the park together with the state institutions issue informational booklets, films etc.
